Ardy is a worker at the Moon 13 research base who is responsible for sending the movie to Jonah and the Bots. He is portrayed by series creator Joel Hodgson.

Behind the scenes

This marks only the second character Joel Hodgson has portrayed on Mystery Science Theater 3000.
His catchphrase "Movie in the hole!" is a take on the old phrase "Fire in the hole", a warning that an explosive detonation in a confined space is imminent. Comically warning the audience how bad the weeks experiment will be. (Sadly for Jonah, They all have the same warning.)
Ardy's name may be a reference to a sarcastic rendering of a laugh: "Har-dee-har-har"
Similar in likeness and role in the show, Ardy may also be a reference to Moltar of Space Ghost: Coast to Coast
Using forced perspective, Ardy is made to look much further away from the tank, as shown in relation to the size of the utility truck parked next to the tank. (See http://tinyurl.com/lolnez6)
