- A subsequent story by Burroughs had his popular character Tarzan travel to Pellucidar and interact with David Innes.
- Director Kevin Connor and actor Doug McClure had previously worked together on 1974's The Land That Time Forgot, which was used in Episode #1107. Some of the supporting cast from that earlier film also appear in At the Earth's Core. Connor and McClure would reunite in 1977 for The People That Time Forgot.

- Roger Ebert picked this movie as his Dog of the Month on the December 21, 1976 episode of the TV movie review show Opening Soon (a precursor of Sneak Previews).
