Attack of the Killer Tomatoes titlecard

Attack of the Killer B-Movies was an NBC prime time special that aired on Saturday, September 2nd, 1995 at 8pm. It was co-written by Frank Conniff.

The special was hosted by Elvira, the Mistress of the Dark, and featured several stars from NBC's teen-centric comedy series, including Dustin Diamond (A.K.A. "Screech" from Saved by the Bell).

The special consisted of the performers making jokes at 4 films that had been heavily edited to fit the allotted time: The Wasp Woman starring Susan Cabot (which had also been colorized) and Killers from Space (also colorized) starring Peter Graves, The Navy Vs. The Night Monsters starring Mamie Van Doren, and Monster from Green Hell (featuring music by Albert Glasser).

Trivia

  • Killers From Space would later be riffed by The Film Crew and The Wasp Woman was later covered by Cinematic Titanic.
  • Bumpers were provided by voice actor Townsend Coleman, who voiced many of the promos on the network at the time. He is well-known for his work on such cartoon shows as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (as Michelangelo), The Tick (as The Tick), and Transformers: Animated (as Sentinel Prime).
