Barbara Stanwyck (1907–1990) was an American actor. She had a long and celebrated career in films and television.
Barbara Stanwyck starred in the highly-regarded noir films Double Indemnity and Sorry, Wrong Number. She later starred as the matriarch Victoria Barkley on the western TV series The Big Valley (opposite Peter Breck, Lee Majors, Linda Evans, and Richard Long). She also starred on the primetime drama The Colbys and the acclaimed miniseries The Thorn Birds (with Earl Holliman).
Barbara Stanwyck was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress four times, and she received an honorary Oscar in 1982. She also received several Emmy Awards and nominations during her career, as well as Golden Globes and other accolades.
