Lloyd Vernet "Beau" Bridges III (born 1941) is an American actor and director. He is the son of actor Lloyd Bridges and his wife Dorothy Simpson Bridges and is the elder brother of Jeff Bridges of Tron and The Big Lebowski fame.
Bridges has been working in acting since childhood. During the 1960s he appeared in several television series including National Velvet, The Fugitive, and Bonanza. Bridges appeared in the notable films Greased Lightning and Norma Rae among others. He starred opposite his brother Jeff in the 1989 film The Fabulous Baker Boys. Bridges continues to make appearances in both television and movies.
In 2011, Bridges, his brother Jeff, his late father Lloyd, Jerry Coleman, Bob Feller and Brian Lamb were honored with the Lone Sailor Award by the United States Navy Memorial. This award is given to veterans of the Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard who have distinguished themselves in their civilian careers.
