Ben Gazzara (1930-2012) was an American actor and director. He had a long career in films and television.
Ben Gazzara first came to prominence as a member of the original Broadway cast of the play Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. He later starred in the acclaimed film Anatomy of a Murder, then on the TV series Run for Your Life as a man with a terminal illness. He won an Emmy Award in 2002 for the made-for-TV movie Hysterical Blindness.
Some of Gazzara's other notable films include John Cassavetes' Husbands, Voyage of the Damned, David Mamet's The Spanish Prisoner, and The Big Lebowski (also featuring David Huddleston).
