Black Cat is a costumed super hero whose real identity is that of Linda Turner, a film actress and former stuntwoman.

MST3K[]

Using her new invention, the Bubbulat-R, Kinga Forrester sends Jonah Heston, Tom Servo and Crow T. Robot into the pages of various public-domain comic books.

Jonah finds himself in the midst of several adventures with the Black Cat before Crow's activities bring the entire experiment to an end, returning everyone to where they began.

Throughout his adventures with Black Cat, Jonah fails to deduce her secret identity, despite several clues.

Behind-the-scenes[]

Wikipedia article:
  • Black Cat was voiced by Felicia Day during the Totino's Proudly Presents Mystery Science Theater 3000 The PODComic! webcast.
  • Black Cat first appeared in Pocket Comics No, 1, August, 1941 and was published consistently until 1951 when the decreasing popularity of super heroes led her title, Black Cat Comics, to become a horror anthology called Black Cat Mystery. After the creation of the Comics Code, the title became Black Cat Western Mystery and Black Cat returned. It reverted briefly to Black Cat Mystery (again without Black Cat) and then Black Cat Mystic before ending its original run in 1958. In 1962, with super-heroes on the rise again, the title returned as Black Cat with Linda Turner and a new sidekick, Kit. This version lasted for three issues, ending in 1963.
  • Jonah's appearances in the Black Cat stories essentially see him replacing her love interest, Rick Horne.
  • Due to a failure to renew the copyrights on her earliest appearances, Black Cat, and most of her publishing history, is considered to be in the public domain.
