Bradley J. Keely (born 1964) was a technical adviser as well as actor, editor, and sound supervisor for MST3K.
Biography[]
Brad Keely is a graduate of Minnesota's Bemidji State University, with a bachelor of science degree. In college, he worked as the production manager and program director at the school's small TV station. Keely later worked an internship at a local TV station in Minneapolis, then got a job at Cable Value Network, a now-defunct cable-TV home shopping channel.
He joined Best Brains in 1992, as the series was beginning its fourth season after being recruiter by Timothy Scott. He was responsible for the bulk of the editing during his time on the show, including being closely involved with the selection of stingers. He also appeared on-camera in one episode (see below).
Keely stayed with the the show through the end of the Comedy Central run, including the production of Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie. He assembled the tribute to the departing Trace Beaulieu that was shown at the second ConventioCon. During the hiatus after Comedy Central cancelled the series, Keely found work as a freelance video editor. He returned to the show when it was picked up by the Sci-Fi Channel and made a few more appearances as youthful characters.
After the end of MST3K's initial run, Brad Keely has continued to work as an editor and technician. He worked on all four Film Crew productions. His involvement with any future incarnations of Mystery Science Theater 3000 remains to be seen.
