Playboy Magazine is a monthly publication that features short literature, interviews with prominent individuals, and female nude pictorials. One featured model in each issue is designated the "Playmate of the Month".
Not all models who appear nude in the magazine are "Playmates". Many actresses have used an appearance in Playboy as a means to generate publicity, and increase their visibility and place in the popular consciousness.
