Appearing in The Magic Sword

Estelle Winwood (1883-1984) was a British actress who enjoyed a long career in stage, screen and television.

Estelle appeared in an episode of TV’s "Bewitched" as one of Samantha's aunts, a witch named Enchantra. She also appeared on TV’s "Batman" (with Adam West in the title role) as recurring character Aunt Hilda (also a witch).

To MST-ies, she is known and loved for her performance in Experiment 411 The Magic Sword, which inspired a love song from Crow T. Robot.

  • Estelle once said, "My advice to actresses is don’t worry about your looks. The very thing that makes you unhappy in your appearance may be the one thing to make you a star."
  • When Estelle was young, other children reportedly made fun of her by calling her "Cow Eyes."
  • At the time of Estelle’s death in 1984 (at age 101), she was the all-time oldest member of the Screen Actor’s Guild (a record later beaten by actor Charles Lane). She remains the longest-lived female member of the Guild.
