MST3K.com is the online home of Mystery Science Theater 3000.

History[]

In 1996, Universal Studios launched MST3000.com as a promotional site for Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie, appearing in the movie's print ads in newspapers and magazines.[1] Designed by Digital Café, mst3000.com featured a downloadable screensaver and a Quicktime VR file of Crow T. Robot, which were later reused on the Sci-Fi Channel's site. The site also featured downloadable clips and movie trailers in the small online-video formats which existed at the time.

Later in 1996, MST3K.com was launched by The Sci-Fi Channel. Beginning in 1997, the site featured an episode guide and blogs from the cast and characters, a message board and the popular "Caption This!" feature. They also eventually acquired the MST3000.com url and redirected it to the same page as MST3K.com.

On Saturday, January 31, 2004, at 2:00pm ET, The Sci-Fi Channel shut down their MST3K.com, directing readers to the Satellite News web site.[2] By May of that year, the MST3K.com url was redirected to the Satellite News, which also began hosting several pages of information from the Sci-Fi site.

In mid-2008, Best Brains, Inc. took over the MST3K.com url, providing clips, a history of the show, a web store tied to the Information Club and, briefly, the animted series of MST3K. The site was Flash-based, so it has not been accurately archived.

Following the purchase of MST3K by Shout! Factory, the MST3K.com url was transferred to Satellite of Love, LLC in mid-August, 2015.
