Prologue: Joel and the Bots throw a root beer kegger. Magic Voice gets drunk.

  • Joel refers to this as "the last Gamera movie." However, in actuality, the last Gamera movie is 2006's Gamera the Brave, with the last Shōwa era Gamera movie being 1980's Gamera: Super Monster, which was not shown during the series' run.

  • "He directed 'The Return of the Secaucus Seven Samurai'!"
Return of the Secaucus 7 was a 1980 film about a group of aging former '60s radicals, directed by John Sayles. The Seven Samurai was a 1954 classic film by Akira Kurosawa.
  • "Meanwhile, at Dollyworld(sic)!"
Dollywood is a theme park in eastern Tennessee owned by Dolly Parton.
  • "All the Canadian seals are on steroids."
A combination of two different doping incidents from the Olympic Games. During the 1970s and 1980s, members of the East German women's swimming team were subjected to a regimen of anabolic steroids. Though accusations of doping were made at the time, hard evidence didn't surface until after the Berlin Wall fell. At the 1988 Olympics, Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson was stripped of his gold medal in the 100 meters after he tested positive for stanozolol.

When the children come across the old man on the beach, Tom Servo makes a reference to Monty Python's Flying Circus - specifically the decrepit man, played by Michael Palin, who usually opened the show with the single word "It's".

KC Masterpiece is a brand of barbecue sauce.

Said as Gamera holds up a rock to shield himself from Zigra's lasers. Sisyphus was a man in Greek mythology who repeatedly tricked the gods, and after he died was condemned to spend eternity trying to push a boulder up a mountain.

A reference to the Pat Benatar song "Hell is for Children".

A reference to the Talking Heads song "Once in a Lifetime".
