Glenn Strange in "Gunsmoke"

Glenn Strange (August 16, 1899 in Weed, New Mexico – September 20, 1973 in Hollywood, California) was an American actor who starred in a lot of John Wayne Westerns and for replacing Boris Karloff as the Frankenstein's monster in three Universal films in the 1940s. He was of Irish and Cherokee descent and was a cousin of the Western film star Rex Allen. He stood 6 feet, 5 inches tall and weighed 220 pounds and died of lung cancer in Los Angeles, California, just after declining health had compelled him to leave his role on "Gunsmoke." Strange is interred at Forest Lawn - Hollywood Hills Cemetery.
