Jack Elam (1920-2003) was an American actor. His characteristic eye was caused by an injury he suffered at age 12 when another boy threw a pencil during a Boy Scout meeting and it jabbed Jack’s eyeball.
Viewers might recognize Jack Elam as Jake, the reluctant deputy from the film Support Your Local Sheriff or as the perverse "doctor" character that accompanied Burt Reynolds and Dom DeLuise in the movie The Cannonball Run. He later co-starred in the short-lived TV comedy Easy Street with Loni Anderson (who was Burt Reynolds' wife at the time).

- Jack Elam co-starred as Frankenstein's Monster in the high-concept 1979 TV sitcom Struck by Lightning. A promotional spot for this series was shown during the Movie Jo Night presentation of Death Car on the Freeway.
