Jerry Dunphy (1921-2002) was an American news anchor in the Southern California market who appeared in several movies and television shows essentially as himself. He is regarded as one of the inspirations for Ted Baxter on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, as well as Kent Brockman on The Simpsons.
