John Ireland (1914-1992) was a Canadian-born actor who frequently portrayed brooding protagonists. He appeared in many highly-regarded films, including Spartacus, Red River, I Shot Jesse James (produced by Robert L. Lippert), All the King's Men (for which he received a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination), and Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. His television appearances include Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Rawhide, Bonanza, Gunsmoke, Mission: Impossible, Quincy M.E., and Murder, She Wrote.
