John McEnery (1943-2019) was a British actor who trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

His first major film role was as Mercutio in the Zeffirelli adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. Other Shakespeare works he appeared in on both the big and small screen include Othello, Much Ado About Nothing, Measure for Measure, Hamlet, and Richard II. When the reconstructed Globe Theatre was opened in 1997, he appeared in the inaugural productions of Henry V and As You Like It and continued to perform there over the next ten years.
