Karl Struss

Karl Struss (1886-1981) was an American cinematographer who started out in silent films. Some of the directors he worked under include Cecil B. DeMille, D.W. Griffith, F.W. Murnau (whose Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans won him a cinematography Oscar), and Charlie Chaplin. He was also one of the first cinematographers to experiment with 3-D film, though these efforts were mostly done in Italy and never received a Stateside release.
