Leonard Maltin is an American film critic, best known for his annually updated Movie Guide and for being the in-house movie critic for the television program Entertainment Tonight.

At the conclusion of Experiment #318, Tom Servo and Crow T. Robot used Leonard Maltin's Movie Guide to search for films to suggest to The Mads as potential experiments. Joel Robinson warned them that the Mads seemed to be "pretty territorial about stuff like that".

Later, Mike Nelson and the Bots were in the habit of questioning Maltin's judgement for assigning relatively high star ratings to the movies used in the experiments (such as Laserblast and The Undead), while giving lower ratings to more highly-regarded films (such as Clint Eastwood's 1992 Oscar-winning western Unforgiven).

Pearl Forrester later called on Maltin for his advice in selecting a particularly painful movie to send. He recommended Gorgo and Pearl subsequently used that film for Experiment #909. While the experiment was not a success, Pearl declared that she liked Maltin after he proclaimed that he wanted to hurt the SOL crew as much as she did.

In addition to calling Maltin out in Episode #706 and #806, his ratings were ridiculed in The Mystery Science Theater 3000 Amazing Colossal Episode Guide.

Maltin was later featured as one of the many praising critics on the cover of Michael J. Nelson's book Mike Nelson's Movie Megacheese.

Maltin is the co-host of the podcast Maltin on Movies, which was originally co-hosted by Baron Vaughn.
