Lew Ayres (1908-1996) was an American actor. His career in films began in 1929.
Lew Ayres starred in several films as Dr. Kildare in the 1930s and 40s. He later appeared in the film Battle for the Planet of the Apes as Mandemus. He received a Best Actor nomination at the 21st Academy Awards for his role in Johnny Belinda, but lost to Laurence Olivier's title role performance in Hamlet.
