Lloyd Bridges (1913-1998) was an American actor. After a string of largely uncredited bit parts through the 1930s and early 1940s, he got his first lead role in the 1945 serial Secret Agent X-9. He continued to take on leading and major supporting roles, ranging from A pictures like High Noon to B fare like Apache Woman (directed by Roger Corman). In 1958, he starred in the syndicated television series Sea Hunt, which is the source of the riff, "By that time, my lungs were aching for air," so frequently used on MST3K. In later years, he focused more on comedy with films such as Airplane! and Hot Shots!.

He is the father of actor Beau Bridges.
