A play on the series of science-fiction novels by William Shatner that started with TecWar.
  • "Alex Gordon was Ed Wood's I.A.L. Diamond."
I.A.L. Diamond was a screenwriter known for his many successful collaborations with writer-director Billy Wilder.
  • "The way you love me is frightening!"
Spoken after a shot of lightning, this is a reference to the 1966 song "Knock on Wood" written by Eddie Floyd. The song has been recorded many times, including a very popular disco cover by Amii Stewart in 1979.
  • "He's like Bela Fawlty."
Basil Fawlty was the often hostile hotel owner in the highly-regarded British TV comedy Fawlty Towers.
  • "It's like Trump with the FBI."
At the time of this livestream event, the Florida resort where former U.S. President Donald Trump lived had recently been searched by the FBI in an effort to reclaim classified documents that were on the premises. Trump objected to the search for number of reasons.

This is a slightly-modified version of the question posed by the narrator at the beginning of every episode of the TV comedy The Odd Couple. The original version asks "Can two divorced men share an apartment without driving each other crazy?".

The opening scene of the long-running PBS childrens' television show Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood typically involved the avuncular Mr. Rogers changing from business attire into casual clothes (often a cardigan) while singing the theme song.

On the TV drama Breaking Bad, high school chemistry teacher Walter White uses his knowledge of science to "cook" the illegal narcotic crystal methamphetamine. He and his associate often did so in their underpants (or in cleansuits) to avoid getting trace amounts of the substance on their clothes.
