Quotes & References[]

  • "You know, for kids!"
This is how the enthusiastic but naive character Norville Barnes presented his idea for the Hula Hoop (a drawing of a circle) in the film The Hudsucker Proxy.
  • "On the S.S. Mickey Rooney."
This could be a reference to Mickey Rooney's notorious appearance in the film Breakfast at Tiffany's, in which he played an Asian man in a way that is now widely-considered to be a broad, offensive stereotype.
  • "Come on, let's cover the waterfront."
I Cover the Waterfront is a 1932 novel by Max Miller about an investigative reporter. It was later adapted into a film and inspired a popular song.
