Obscure References[]

  • "Do you think Christine was before this or after?"

Christine is a 1983 horror novel by Stephen King about a car that is possessed by an evil force. It was adapted into a film the same year.

  • "It's like Jaws with bulldozers."

Referring to a scene in the 1975 shark attack film Jaws in which the shark hunters tell stories about various injuries they've received. There is also a notable monologue by Captain Quint (played by Robert Shaw) about the sinking of the USS Indianapolis during World War II where the surviving crew was beset by sharks.

Battlebots is a TV series that aired on Comedy Central from 2000 to 2002. It featured homemade remote-controlled robots that fought each other. Popular and inexpensive to produce, the show was re-run frequently. Some viewers complained that the show barely qualified as comedy (though it featured comedic hosts and ringside analysis by comedians, including the Sklar brothers). It was later revived on different networks.
