Obscure References[]

  • "...Where the sidewalk ends." "Thanks, Shel Silverstein."
Shel Silverstein wrote and illustrated a number of collections of humorous poems that are popular with children, including Where the Sidewalk Ends.
  • "Dental plan. Lisa needs braces."
This is a reference to the Simpsons episode "Last Exit to Springfield" in which Homer Simpson learns that his labor union has given up their dental plan at the same time that his daughter Lisa needs braces. These thoughts repeat in Homer's head several times before he eventually makes the connection between them.
  • "And that's the end of that chapter."
In another Simpsons episode, Homer is surprised to find that a dashing police detective character on a TV series has the same name as him. "That's the end of that chapter" is the character's catchphrase.
