The Episode[]

Host Segments[]

Prologue: Joel, Jonah, and Emily confer about their plan.

Segment One (Invention Exchange): After a brief introduction from Kinga and Max and an address by Dr. Kabahl, the three hosts present their inventions (all of which are secretly part of their escape plan). Jonah has created a B-52s head for Tom Servo, Joel has a perpetual motion steering wheel, and Emily has a paperweight that looks like a cinder block. Kinga and max scramble to present the Missile-toe, an explosive rocket with mistletoe on it.

Segment Two: Emily and her crew are visited by the cantankerous Friar Nolte, who explains the true meaning of Christmas. Crow, Tom, and GPC2 are transported to Joel's SOL for the next segment of the movie.

Segment Three: The hosts prepare to explain to their respective 'Bots that they're planning to escape.

Intermission

Segment Four: Jonah tries to tell his 'Bots that he's leaving, but they're disinterested and start arguing.

Segment Five: Jonah and Emily are transported to Joel's SOL, while Emily's 'Bots are taken away, while the three hosts go into the theater to riff together.

Segment Six: The hosts attempt their escape plan, performing "Hooray for Santa Claus", "Patrick Swayze Christmas", "Oh Holy Night" and the MST3K theme song (though Joel claims that he "only knows the lyrics to Mike's" version). They get some unlikely help when Pearl, who has known their plan all along, begins towing them with the Deep Hurting. In the end, they all escape through the Time Bag to Earth in 1991. Dr. Kabahl revokes Kinga's funding and calls in her loans, and the Kingadome is struck by a meteorite.

Stinger: The dragon snatches up an unwitting human as a distraught child watches.

Obscure References[]

  • "Dufresne, party of three? Dufresne?"
This refers to a stand-up comedy routine by Mitch Hedberg in which he comments on the discompassionate nature of restaurant waiting lists.
  • "There's a note! 'Mr. Police, I gave you all the clues...'."
The marketing for the 2017 thriller film The Showman included billboards, posters, and bus stop ads that depicted a hand-written note from the serial killer character that read "Mr. Police You could have saved her I gave you all the clues".

Callbacks[]

  • Most of the songs the hosts play during their escape refer to older episodes of the show.

Running Gags[]

  • Singing the refrain of the Paul McCartney song "Wonderful Christmastime".
  • The arbitrary length of six years and thirty feet.

Behind the Scenes[]

MST3K Cast[]

MST3K Crew[]

Production[]

  • The theme song is sung by Baron Vaughn as Tom Servo, though Conor McGiffin also performs Tom in this episode.
  • The title of the film does not appear on screen at any time during the episode.
  • Crow, Tom, and GPC2 are taken from the bridge of the Simulator of Love by the Tube. The Tube is later used to take Jonah and Emily from their respective bridges.
  • In Host Segment #2, Joel appears to be reading several books published by BearManor Media, one of the show's sponsors.
  • Josh Weinstein is credited as a writer, but he did not voice Tom Servo as he had done for part of Episode 1306.
  • The final movie segment is the first time that a feature film was riffed without robot characters in the theater since Episode 611, although Pearl had recently riffed the short Cavalcade with Dr. Erhardt and The Bicycle Driver with Synthia and Mega-Synthia, both without robots.
  • At the time of this episode's initial release, it was not clear if there would be any new episodes produced, allowing the episode to serve as a series finale, as had both Episode #706 and Episode #1013 (and, arguably, Episode #1206).
    • At the MST3Kon event held on July 16, 2023, Joel Hodgson indicated that he had plans for an additional Kickstarter campaign to fund a 14th season. This was followed, on October 24, 2023, with the announcement of a new crowd-funding campaign to produce a 14th season, which was not successful. It remains to be seen whether this episode will stand as the series finale.
