Steven E. de Souza (born 1947) is an American writer and director who started out working at a Philadelphia television station. After being laid off from that job, he went to Los Angeles in hopes of breaking into the film industry. On arrival, he submitted two spec scripts, a crime thriller and a science fiction story. This led to him being hired as the story editor for The Six Million Dollar Man. Some of his more notable writing credits include 48 Hours, The Running Man, Commando, and the first two Die Hard movies.
