Gerry Anderson, MBE (1929-2012) and his ex-wife Sylvia (1927-2016), were a husband-and-wife pair of British television producers. They are best-remembered for the 1960s series Supercar, Stingray, Thunderbirds, and Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons, which used a process they devised called "supermarionation". They later produced live-action programming, such as UFO and Space: 1999.
On Mystery Science Theater 3000. the mole-people Gerry and Sylvia are named after the couple.

In addition, the early KTMA "Mystery Science Theatre 3000" promo used footage from and namedropped a Thunderbirds compilation film, Thunderbirds to the Rescue, although the film was never used on the show. Also, Anderson production Supercar was used on The Higgins Boys & Gruber, a show created by Joel Hodgson for The Comedy Channel.
