Volume 9 packaging
The Mystery Science Theater 3000 Collection, Volume 9 is a DVD box set released by Rhino Entertainment. It was released in May 2006. On January 15, 2019, Shout! Factory rereleased the four films contained in a new box set under the same number.
This set features two episodes hosted by Joel and two hosted by Mike.
Inside the basic cardboard outside box is a fold-out insert for the four discs with an episode description and chapter index printed on it. The insert is an advertisement for other available MST3K titles.
The release of The Sinister Urge in this set marks the first home video release of an episode featuring a film written or directed by Edward D. Wood, Jr.
This is the first DVD box set to have the discs in the order of their original airing.
This set was re-released in 2019 by Shout! Factory as Mystery Science Theater 3000 – Volume IX with additional extras.
