The Snoop Sisters: A Black Day for Bluebeard is a 1974 episode of the TV mystery series The Snoop Sisters, about a pair of elderly sisters who write mystery novels.

Plot[]

Ernesta and Gwendolyn attend a revival screening of a horror movie starring Ernesta's old friend Michael Bastion. During the film, Michael's wealthy wife is murdered and he becomes the prime suspect. The sisters attempt to prove his innocence, but they gather more evidence that indicates that he is guilty.

  • Originally broadcast on March 19, 1974.
  • The Snoop Sisters was part of the NBC Mystery Movie series, in which a number of different shows broadcast one new episode every four weeks (approximately). Other shows in the series included Columbo, McCloud, McMillan & Wife, Hec Ramsey, and Banacek.
  • Most episodes of shows in the NBC Mystery Movie line-up were roughly feature-length. Some of them were given theatrical releases in countries outside the United States.
  • This was the fifth and final new episode of The Snoop Sisters.
  • This episode features a performance by Mort Sahl, a well-known topical comedian.
  • One attendee at the film festival seems to be wearing a mask of the Metaluna Mutant from This Island Earth.
  • Actors Vincent Price and Roddy McDowall had both played villains in the 1960s Batman TV series (Egghead and Bookworm, respectively).
  • Katherine Helmond would go on to appear in the Terry Gilliam film Brazil, and co-star on the popular TV sitcom Who's the Boss. She also co-starred in the pilot for The Elvira Show (starring Elvira).
  • The exterior of the Bastion home can also be seen in the film Legacy of Blood, which was used by Cinematic Titanic.
