William Beaudine (1892-1970) was an American director with well over three hundred titles in his filmography, ranging from one-reel shorts to feature length productions. He was infamous for using the more economical "editing in the camera" method (where only scenes that are absolutely necessary are shot), as it was quicker and minimized the waste of raw stock. However, this often resulted in obvious flubs making it into the final print.
In The Golden Turkey Awards, he was nominated for the Worst Director Lifetime Achievement Award, but lost to Edward D. Wood Jr.
Notes[]
- Some sources credit Beaudine as having directed the short Design for Dreaming, but the short's credits list Victor D. Solow as the director.
