Willis O'Brien with his Academy Award

Willis Harold O'Brien (March 2, 1886 – November 8, 1962) was an American filmmaker best know for his stop-motion and special effects work on King Kong, its sequel, Son of Kong and Mighty Joe Young, for which he won an Academy Award.

He was in charge of supervising the special effects for the film in experiment #113, The Black Scorpion and created the story that was the basis for experiment #1103 - The Beast of Hollow Mountain.
